It was a trip to France in 2012 that sparked the inception of Black Walnut. Six months later the bakery debuted at the Minneapolis Farmers Market on Nicollet Mall. After a successful market season, the bakery shut and reformed as a weekend pop-up at One on One Bike Studio where customers lined up for bread and pastry.
Black Walnut Bakery and Cafe opened its doors on November 1st, 2019. Located in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis, the cafe is open Tuesday-Sunday 8am-2pm for all things bread and pastry.
Sarah Botcher is the baker/owner of Black Walnut Bakery.
A native of Minneapolis, Sarah has been cooking and baking for over fifteen years. She attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley for Baking & Pastry and worked at Tartine Bakery & Cafe in San Francisco where she developed her skill in viennoiserie.
